Charmian believes in the power of business as a force for good.
She specialises in designing high impact investment and innovation strategies which provide positive outcomes for the planet. She holds experience working as a trusted advisor for companies (including HP, Allianz and Nike) as well as government bodies, foundations and investment firms. Charmian is an active champion of the global B Corp movement and is helping coordinate the launch of the community in the UK.
In addition to her role at B Lab UK Charmian is Co-Founder of Volans. She is also a Senior Advisor at Bridges Ventures in their Impact+ team and was recently appointed to the position of Innovation Advisor at Grant Thornton.
Charmian is actively involved in the community as a Trustee of the Future Fit Foundation, and Advisory Board member of Global Corporate Venturing and a BMW Foundation Responsible Leader. She also served as chair of the Flavelle Foundation and was a member of the board of United Way of Canada.
Charmian is often found speaking at events focused on social enterprise, innovation, impact investing, entrepreneurship and system change and has enjoyed contributing to Harvard Business Review, Fast Company and Stanford Social Innovation Review. This year Charmian was profiled in Brummell’s Magazine in their ‘Top 30 under 40’.
Charmian started her career as a consultant at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG). She graduated with an Honours degree in Art History from Queen’s University and holds and MBA from Harvard Business School.
