New Carbon Economy

There remains a chasm between the speed and scale of action necessary to halt and reverse global warming and the speed and scale of action currently being undertaken by companies worldwide.

We are working with leading companies to lay the foundations of a New Carbon Economy. One which lowers the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere while also delivering shared prosperity for a growing global population.

Beyond zero emissions

Corporate climate leadership has come a long way, yet there remains a chasm between the speed and scale of action that we know is necessary to halt – and ultimately reverse – global warming and the speed and scale of action currently being undertaken by companies worldwide.

There’s no single solution, but what’s needed is a combination of bold leadership and a systemic approach. Companies must set truly stretching climate goals, but they cannot lead the transition alone. It is critical that we engage everyone from investors, policy-makers, suppliers and customers.

Our approach

We bring together those ready to pioneer a New Carbon Economy – large companies, startups, scientists, policy makers and NGOs – to work on key topics related to the transition to going beyond zero emission and to co-create teh next generation of climate leadership

We convene roundtables and workshops to enable peer-to-peer learning and pre-competitive collaboration. We publish thought-leadership to spotlight actionable next steps on the path to building a New Carbon Economy. And we deliver on an advocacy agenda to promote awareness of the need and opportunity for companies to act.

Some of our conversations captured in this short film, produced as part of Project Breakthrough.

The topics in the video are discussed in more detail in this Fast Company article:  – Carbon Isn’t Just A Danger – It’s Also An Opportunity.

A New Carbon Economy Blueprint

During 2019, we will be working on a New Carbon Economy Blueprint to highlight concrete, near-term actions that businesses (and other key actors) can take to create momentum. The Blueprint will be launched in September 2019.

Our Carbon Future

The white paper Our Carbon Future builds on work published by the Carbon Productivity Consortium in 2017, as well as dozens of conversations with senior executives in business and experts on carbon and climate change.
