Charmian Love

Charmian Love is Co-Founder and Director of Volans.  She specialises in designing ‘breakthrough’ innovation strategies by brokering cross-sectoral partnerships between business leaders, investors, entrepreneurs and policy-makers.

In addition to her advisory work with global companies including Allianz, Bayer, HP and Nike, Charmian is also involved in Volans’ agenda-setting projects, including the Breakthrough Capitalism program.  Her recent report is Investing in Breakthrough: Corporate Venture Capital which makes a case for collaboration between corporate venture capital and impact investment.

Charmian is a regular speaker at international events focused on innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainability and has written for Harvard Business ReviewFast Company and Stanford Social Innovation Review.  She is an Advisory Board member of Global Corporate Venturing, a member of the Editorial Panel of Pioneers Post, a member of the BMW Foundation’s Responsible Leaders Network and was profiled as a ‘system changer’ on

In the UK, Charmian is a trustee of Shared Impact and the 3D Investment Foundation and is a mentor for ventures participating in the Bethnal Green Ventures social incubator.  She is on the UK Corporate Forms working Group for the G8 Social Impact Investment Taskforce.

Outside the UK, Charmian is on the board of the United Way Centraide Canada and is the Global Ambassador for CityWorks in Toronto.  She is past Chair of The Flavelle Foundation.

Prior to joining Volans, Charmian was a consultant at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG). She graduated with an Honours degree in Art History from Queen’ University and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.

In her spare time, Charmian enjoys making campy crafts with her two sons, exploring studio art shows in pre-Starbucks neighbourhoods and winding, wine-fuelled conversations with her husband.
